Cultural Heritage Protection Badge Designed for A’er Villagers

A’er villagers are the representatives of the rich and unique Qiang culture, one which stemmed from the minority’s long standing history. The handful of stunning ancient architecture in the A’er village that survived the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake are examples of the cultural heritage that the villagers managed to pass on generations after generations. Inspired by A’er village Qiang minority culture, CHP understands the villagers’ desire to preserve their own culture, especially because a significant portion of the village elders passed away in the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake. As a result, CHP launched the A’er Village Qiang Minority Cultural Revitalization Project this year.

To better recognize project volunteers’ dedication in preserving their cultural heritage, Gao Rongjin – Local Project Director – created a Cultural Heritage Protection badge for program volunteers. He hopes that villagers will wear this badge to express their pride and respect of their own culture. He also wants the establishment of more cultural heritage preservation projects after CHP’s A’er Village Qiang Minority Cultural Revitalization Project concludes.
