April 16th Old Beijing Dialogue Event Lowdown

On Saturday, April 16, CHP kicked off its first documentary screening event of the year. Old Beijing Dialogue brought together over a hundred cultural enthusiasts to the ballroom of the Fairmont Beijing Hotel. CHP Founder and Chairman He Shuzhong shared with the crowd CHP’s objectives and the role of public participation in cultural preservation.

The event also featured a short documentary produced by German producer Enno Ladwig, Cycle of Change – Beijing My Old Home. The documentary juxtaposed Beijing in 1990’s with 2008 as the city geared toward Summer Olympics. CHP was very fortunate to have China Museum Association representative, born-and-bred Old Beijing resident Mr. Sun Chuandong to be our final speaker at the event. Mr. Sun discussed details of Beijing’s traditional courtyard architecture, the information that is becoming more difficult to access, and harder to find in modern days.

CHP is presenting more cultural educational events in the near future. We hope you will join us to learn more about the city you love!CHP sincerely thanks Fairmont Beijing Hotel, our dedicated volunteers (Wang Dan, Zeng Jin, Gu Yue, Zhang Lei, Cheng Junqiang, Zuo Shiwei, Zhang Xiuji, Lv Yi, and Guo Ran.More event photos are available on CHP’s Douban page.
