Old Beijing Heritage Protection Project
Over the course of three intensive research phases, this project organized volunteer teams to conduct comprehensive documentation and surveys of cultural heritage resources across all 33 historic and cultural conservation areas in Beijing's old city, using rigorous, scientifically grounded methods. Through systematic architectural photography and structured oral history interviews, the project has built a detailed heritage database. Moreover, through in-depth analysis, it has developed protection planning recommendations that are both policy-relevant and practically actionable.

Friends of Old Beijing

Through volunteer field surveys and expert interviews, this project explores feasible policy measures for the protection of Beijing's old city at a macro level, and provides recommendations to decision-makers and the media, in order to advance the protection of Beijing's historic old city.

Old Beijing Strolling Plan
This is a civil society-initiated cultural heritage protection survey project. Through on-the-ground observation, documentation, and interviews conducted by wandering through the streets and alleys of old Beijing, the project aims to establish a detailed database of existing hutong resources.
Traditional Courtyard (四合院) 
Restoration Training
An initiative that addresses the challenges of renovating historic courtyards, It aims to bridge these gaps by creating a platform that simplifies traditional architectural principles into accessible guidelines to empower community-driven, culturally sensitive preservation.
Cultural Trails
The Dongsi Hutong cultural trail, part of the "Old Beijing Strolling Plan," guides participants through a historic conservation area rich in heritage, well-preserved courtyards. Led by a local resident, the walk brings the area's history to life, inspiring shared responsibility for the city's future.
