Cultural and Natural Heritage Day

Dear Friends,

The Cultural and Natural Heritage Day arrives once again on June 13. This year's theme is "Cultural Relics Belong to the People and Serve the People."

Brick by brick, city walls are built; city by city, they carry our cultural lineage. China's ancient city walls are a magnificent scroll of civilization engraved upon the land, embodying the passage of a thousand years and the spiritual roots of the Chinese nation. Today, exposure to wind and rain and the passage of time have made these precious treasures increasingly in need of protection.

To this end, Great Wall Station, the Beijing Cultural Heritage Protection Center, the Chongqing Cultural Relics Protection Volunteer Service Corps, and the Shanxi Cultural Relics Protection Volunteer Service Association have jointly launched the cultural relic protection initiative "Guardians of Civilization · Volunteers in Action — Illuminate China's Ancient City Walls." We sincerely invite friends from all walks of life to join us in safeguarding our ancient city walls.

2. Learn professional knowledge of cultural relic protection and master scientific methods of conservation.

3. Upload the results of your site visits and inspection activities to enrich the archival records of China's ancient city walls.

4. Share your experiences of participating in heritage protection on social media using the hashtag #IlluminateChina'sAncientCityWalls.

Let us safeguard civilization with the spirit of volunteerism and protect our ancient city walls through every small action.
